Kathy and I have both been to Oz, just not together! Just on business with the chance to explore a bit. Scott's favorites are Sydney and Melbourne; Syndey's waterfront is just lovely, Melbourne has a "small city" quality to it that is endearing.
We love Australia. Australians are like Americans... except outgoing. Between the two of us, we've been to most of the states in Australia; Kathy's been to the majority, Scott just to the three cities of Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney (always for business). Scott is jealous.

A beautiful, classy city in every way. Stunning waterfront and beaches, great views -- and they speak English, sort of!
A smaller city, Melbourne is quieter, more intimate, less "hustle-bustle" than Sydney. The city center is small enough to be walk-able, and the selection of restaurants is outstanding. Melbourne was Scott's company's regional headquarters for Australia, so he's been there quite a few times.
