We're down to about a month to go in our first summer in Vancouver (it's really my [Scott's] 3rd, but the last two have been as a full-time student). All of a sudden the time's gone -- what about all the people we were to see, all the places we'd visit? So, this in mind, we made the command decision to visit cruise friends Denise and Sharon, who we met on a cruise between Florida and BC. That was three years ago, and we've kept in touch about our respective travels and they've been watching our web (as you are) to see what we've been up to.
So we drove to Tsawwassen, by the US border, and hopped on the BC Ferry to Swartz Bay, Victoria on Vancouver Island (Vancouver, BC isn't actually on Vancouver Island). Denise and Sharon showed us around, thoughtfully bringing us other than to the "stereotypical" Victoria tourist traps -- a fine lunch (Ethiopian), walks, afternoon drinks & snacks, dinner out. Not only did they take us to and from the ferry (it's some distance from Victoria) -- we got sent home with fruits and herbs from their garden.
Denise and Sharon are graceful hostesses and intrepid travelers with great stories.
